“I was based in Japan for work, and my colleagues who were already expats told me to find a Japanese friend or even a girlfriend. That way, I would easily learn about the language and culture of Japan while having fun. So I did and tried PCMAX out. I like that a lot is going on, and I can be proactive when it comes to searching and interacting with the members. What I didn’t like was that every move I make to reach out has a corresponding amount. I couldn’t enjoy it all out.”

Most of the features at PCMAX are free for its female users. For the male users, instead of a monthly subscription scheme, you’ll have to purchase as many points as you can. PCMAX uses a pay-per-use system, and almost every function has its corresponding points. It usually ranges from one to 20 points at the most.
A few notes about your points:
- These points are good for one year, make sure you use them up before then.
- You can continuously purchase and stock up on points for convenience.
- PCMAX does not offer a refund at the moment.

Is PCMAX right for me?Who is signed up on PCMAX in the UK?
Exclusively on DatingScout: online member numbers for dating services are usually far off, so we estimate how many people are really on PCMAX from traffic data and interest, updated monthly, with history.
If you’re a fan of Japanese animations and manga, it’s a common trope to see high schoolers or younger characters date and fall in love. And it seems like that’s a reflection of the Japanese dating culture. At PCMAX, the majority of the members are young.
In terms of age, most are in the 25-34 age range, while those from the 18-24 and 35-44 groups follow close. You’ll still see members in the mid-40s and up, but most are in the marrying age. This further coincides with the platform’s objective: matchmaking single men and women looking for long-term friends, partners, or a potential husband or wife.
Location-wise, the bulk of the population hails from Japan. There’s a minority of members from the United States and the United Kingdom, but they stayed or were based in Japan at one point in their life.
Most of the members at PCMAX are males, which is quite surprising considering that most of the platform’s features are free for women.

- Minimal functionality if used via Windows phone
The majority of avid users of PCMAX browse the platform via their mobile phones. This does not come as a surprise because it has free-to-download mobile apps available for iOS, Android, and Windows phone users.
There’s even a way if the app is not available in your country; you can browse PCMAX via your favorite mobile browser. The website’s design is mobile-responsive, and you’ll have no trouble navigating it.
A word of advice, especially for those using a Windows phone, your device may not be compatible with some of its functions. Other than that, navigating PCMAX via the mobile app is a reliable alternative, especially if you are always on the go.

Design & usability
The look and feel of PCMAX is a bit on the outdated side. The site makes use of blocks to delineate the various functions and features of the platform. The colours are muted, and the visuals and icons look like the older versions of the emojis we now know.
Despite the rather old look, everything is laid out pretty well. You’ll have no problems navigating the site because all the tabs and features are placed on the header. This intuitive layout is good because PCMAX may have members who are not as tech-savvy.
There were also ads strewn in the site, but thankfully, they were placed in the sidelines and were not a distraction to the matchmaking site's casual user.
Special features
PCMAX has some notable features that will no doubt make your matchmaking experience memorable:
Finding people 2
Bulletin Board
What makes the Bulletin Board a unique feature is the many filters you can use to sort out the content you consume. These filters are especially helpful if you’re the one searching for a match. There’s a lot of ways to categorize; you can search by age, location, photos, or interests, to name a few.
Back Profile
This search function is a nifty trick if you want to for substance instead of visuals. With the back search, you can narrow down the profiles according to who answered a particular question. That way, you can see who matches you well based on how they answered the inquiry.
Final results
3.5good
“With its plentiful and active user base, popularity, and easy-to-follow functions, it seems like PCMAX is the matchmaking platform to go if you’re interested in dating a Japanese man or woman long-term.”
