Originally released in 2013 under the name Dattch (meaning date catch), this dating app was re-branded to HER in 2015. HER claims to be the most popular lesbian dating app, and sets itself apart from others by being an app made for queer women by queer women.

Aside from being a dating site, it also serves a social media platform where members can post status updates. 

HER has a more open approach, with the long-term goal of connecting queer women to their community rather than being a simple hookup app. It currently boasts over a million members in the US.

HER only lets users sign up through their Facebook or Instagram accounts. They do this to verify the authenticity of those who would like to become a member. This has raised protests before because they would mistakenly reject "masculine-looking" women (since men are not allowed to make profiles in the app).

Once your account is connected, HER automatically grabs your profile photo, name, and birthday to build your HER profile. Photos can be edited later on

    If you cancel your premium subscription, you can still use the benefits of the membership until the end of the period. But you won't be refunded for the remaining days. When it's due to renew, your premium membership will be inactive and you won't be billed again. You can only ask for a refund within a month of a transaction.

    Meet is the main feature of the entire app. Here you are presented with different profiles who meet your age and distance preference. You can swipe to either like or dismiss them. Once you mutually like each other or are friends, you can message each other.

    The feed is a feature that lets you interact with members real-time without needing to be matches or friends. You can like or comment on posts, and you can add your own image or text post. Being active on this feature exposes you to more people and increases your visibility.

    Events

    Events can be viewed and posted in the Feed. The best lesbian events in your area are posted here: from music festivals to cookouts to concerts to comedy shows. Attending these events will let you meet and socialize with lesbians.

    No, it won't. The HER team doesn't even have the capacity to.
