This app intrigued me. However, when I tried it, it did not live up to its concept. While I like the concept of video chatting and meeting new people, it felt weird that there’s no way to chat with them other than through video. Some people are better using text instead of video and vice versa. It’s just weird that there’s only video chat available and you have to purchase diamonds, messages, and premium memberships to really contact other people. A bummer, really

Heyy offers one-month, three-month, and six-month premium memberships. The membership includes private customer support, unlimited nickname changes, the ability to use the rear camera, unlimited refresh, message recall, 720P video chat, and more. Payment will be charged to your Google Play or App store account. The subscription automatically renews for the same package length at the same price until you cancel in settings. It is a recurring bill you can cancel anytime.
Heyy’s premium services might seem worth it to subscribe to. However, upon further investigation, we find that there are not many features left for basic members that they can’t gauge whether the premium is worth it or not. There are no free trials as well. Honestly, there are other video chat-centric apps that provide the same services at a cheaper cost and even free.

Is Heyy right for me?Who is signed up on Heyy in the UK?
Exclusively on DatingScout: online member numbers for dating services are usually far off, so we estimate how many people are really on Heyy from traffic data and interest, updated monthly, with history.
While Heyy has a decent amount of members, it is not as popular as other video-centric mobile apps such as Snapchat. It receives over 1,000 daily logins which total up to 30,000 monthly visits. The top visitors of this app are from China and followed closely by Ukraine. The majority of its members border on the younger side, aged between 18 to 24. There is not much disparity between male and female members.
What makes Heyy an attractive app for people is the ability to video chat anyone from anywhere without having to expose who you are right away. Some prefer to use AR masks, others do not. Most of these AR masks are fun-looking and well-integrated with the user experience.

Design & usability
The design of the app is geared towards the young. It comes to no surprise that the majority of the app’s members are ebtween the ages 18-24. Using colorful palette, Heyy is clearly targeted towards younger demographics.
However, upon our investigation, we found the app’s user interface and user experience to be complicated and hard to navigate at times. It isn’t simple. There seems to be another special feature hidden a few clicks away. You must find these bits yourself instead of having it all laid down in front of you.
