TeenChat Review September 2024

Like most chat sites, TeenChat has a very simple and easy registration that will only take less than half a minute. However, since the site's demographics are teens, it is to our opinion that perhaps the site should have a much stricter sign-up process. There is an email verification, however, verifying your email does not do much since you can access the site completely without verifying your account and the email is more for TeenChat to know that it is an active address and not a fake one, instead of actually verifying the age group of their new member.

It is also disconcerting how you can just skip registration and login as a guest instead. You don't have to state your email address or even, age, for that matter. You simply type in your preferred username and you can access the site right away. 

Rules require you to be within the 13 to 19-year-old age bracket. TeenChat has tons of chat policies that you must agree to before actually signing in. You can also opt to link your Twitter account to have an even quicker registration shortcut. It is a bit jarring to note that a Facebook account, where there are more personal details available, is skipped over for a Twitter account. But perhaps, the site developers just think that their niche audience is much more active on Twitter than Facebook, nowadays. 

TeenChat further reinforces the nostalgia of Friendster where you can add people as friends. Aside from joining the group conversation on the chat room, you can add people you frequently talk to as friends. Once they accept, they will automatically be placed under the "Friends" tab on your profile. This will make keeping in touch with them easier. 

Aside from group conversations, you can also send a private message. This seems to be the next popular mode of contact since not more than five minutes of creating an account, we were able to receive six direct messages. It is even more surprising that when we replied back to all six DMs, we got a reply from each. Granted, yes, that most of the direct messages were sexual in nature, it is noteworthy that the members are very much active and not bots at all. Just be vigilant at all times and mind your online activity. 

In all chat rooms we have participated in, there is one prevalent theme and that is, plugging other social media platforms is strictly banned. This is, perhaps, to keep out pornographic content on the site, which is a major plus in our books!

If group conversations or private messages are not up to your speed, then you might find yourself enjoying the much more subdued style of TeenChat's blogs and forums. There is a bunch of written content you can read, ranging from "Pieces of Teen Advice" to "Gaming" and "Television Series." You can also leave comments to contribute more to the community.

Although there is a video function in the chat room, it is seldom used by members. We have noticed that the most used way of mingling with other members is through chat. If they wanted more contact, most users would exchange social media details and transfer mediums.

In TeenChat, you get more or less a level of customization that is not prevalent in other dating sites or apps. This recalls other old sites like Friendster where you can customize the look of your profile to better show off your personality, compared to the newer sites of today where there is already a formatted profile. Although it is not much, in all honesty, the fact that you can still change your username colour and pick profile themes is still a welcome surprise. It is also worth noting that teens might actually buy into this gimmick more than adults. Overall, this gives the site a friendlier and more colourful look to it. 

You can upload a primary photo. There are no guidelines for it. Most of the profile pictures displayed on the site are characters from anime, movie, and TV shows. There is also an "About Me" section where you can write a brief description of yourself and post your "Mood" for the day. 

Further recall to Friendster, you can add friends on TeenChat and they will show up under the "Friends" tab on your profile. In this way, you can easily find the users you are frequently chatting with. You can also put them in your "Ignore" list should they act suspicious or annoying. 

The premium packages of TeenChat is very cheap. The members who are all supposed to be a student can afford to pay for this using their allowances. It also has a lifetime membership package which cost USD 15 which is a quite fair deal.

The premium package has a lot to offer but a free membership gives a lot too.
