Our Review
Scruff is a safe and reliable social application where gay, bi, trans, and queer guys can connect. The app enables friendships, networking, dating, and no-strings-attached sex. Scruff was launched in 2010 by Johnny Skandros and Eric Silverberg, the latter who is now the CEO. It is an independently owned and operated GBTQ business by Perry Street Software, Inc. In 2014, it won the best dating app in New York City along with other apps. The app currently has a community of more than 12 million members all over the world.
Scruff Bans Underwear Photos
Even with Scruff’s high popularity, the app has been suspended by Google Play Store several times without disclosing the reason. Because of this, Scruff has taken the initiative to be proactive in settling this matter. Their solution was to ban half-naked images from being uploaded into their app. This includes photos that show suggestive or explicit sexual acts, exposed buttocks, underwear or swimming trunks. Photos where the genitals are covered with hands, towels, or other objects are no longer allowed in the app. Users of Scruff are not happy about it and have expressed their sentiments and complaints to the developers.
