Visit the Imvu website or download the desktop/mobile up to become a member. Start by choosing your gender, creating your avatar, customising its looks and outfit, and lastly, providing your basic information. 

Become a guest member after providing your email address or directly logging in using your Facebook account. Set up your password and input your birthdate on the same form. Only captcha verification is needed to complete your registration.

The steps are very easy-to-follow and entertaining. It is not your typical "enter your details" kind of registration. Styling your avatar is fun and creative. Just like when you are preparing for an actual date, you have to dress up and be on your best look.

It's up to you if you want to be vain about the looks of your avatar. However, you may change its looks later anyway. You can spend less time signing up and be a member after just a minute or two.

Meet and talk with members from different public chat rooms and live rooms, or your match from the "Get Matched" feature.

Be creative by using Modicons which are like emoticons that you can send on your chat messages. Some are moving; some are just steady. Some are solo while some are in pairs or groups.  You can also buy new designs from the store.

Make some moves on the dance floor or any other public chat places by making the Avatar Actions. 

To make your closeness official, add other members as friends to keep them on your list. You will also see their posts for you.

If you want some fast action and a higher rate of finding someone, visit some chatrooms which specialise in Dating and Matching services. However, it will take some time for that.

The profile section is just simple, which makes it more interesting. It only shows the features of your avatar, which you can change and style the way that you like. 

Information that will show on your profile is your age, gender, location (Country/State), a link to your posts, followers following, and friends' list.  

When you are in a particular room, you will see the details of that place in the current room section of your profile. You will also have the option to share or keep some information blank about your bio, interests, and affinity. The start of your membership, however, will be shown at the bottom of the profile.

Come up with a unique and creative username if you don't want to be assigned to a generic one. Usernames are used to protect the members' identities. 

You can post photos and texts on your feed. For the pictures, you may customise the poses of the avatar before capturing. You may also change the clothes and accessories that you are virtually wearing. Some filters and effects are available for free, while some of the products need to be paid.

Since no sensitive information is on a member's profile, it is safe to fill out the profile information forms. However, members whom you blocked will not be able to see anything on your profile, and it goes the same way for anyone using Imvu.

The currency in Imvu is called credits. You can use it to buy items like furniture, or fashion clothing and accessories for your avatar. Credits can also buy additional features.

There are different options on how you would make most out of your money in Imvu. You may avail of VIP membership and get tons of benefits every month. Buy only Imvu credits and spend it wisely on virtual stuff, or buy individual upgrades to make your profile unique.

VIP membership gives you free credits, discounts, access to premium enhancements, and closet controls. You will also have an elite status which includes an ad-free Imvu experience,  capability to block unwanted avatar actions, and the choice to rename your avatar or remove "guest" from the username. Be able to create chat rooms and have up to 10 groups.

Members also have a lot of options to pay for membership and credits. Credit cards and debit cards are the main channels of payment. But you may also choose PayPal, gift cards, or your mobile carrier for your purchases. 

Your membership renews every billing cycle. So take note of the end of your premium period just in case you would wish to stop availing. 

To cancel your subscription, make sure to do it before the start of a new cycle. Under your account settings, you will find the option "Cancel Subscription." You have to confirm your cancellation. Then, you will receive a confirmation message that your membership has been cancelled.
